If you loved me, I would know

by simple moments measured

in cups of tea on Sundays

you and me, laughing,

at sweet memories

locked in the bricks

of the house we built

for me and you.

I wait for you, to stroke my brow,

I wait to sparkle up at you,

I wait for a second’s gaze

that might last for eternity,

if you loved me, I would know

but for now the house

remains empty.
