Haunted Thoughts

I was sad;
Not for the reason I knew you,
Because I did not.

You came into our life;
Vulnerable and weak,
A shell, of your formal self.

Rumours of your former life;
Fabricated,
Like you.

I wanted to believe;
You were destined, for Heaven,
But this was not a certainty.

It was a perhaps;
An adventure you hoped,
Would start from your death bed.

I am left;
With a heart-rending image,
Of you.
