I was born, the heir of necessity –

My crib, adorned with thorns –

Because, love was a scarcity.

I was an annoyance – to the guardians of my youth.

With the absence of encouragement; I found strength,

To fight for my place,

To force my voice to be heard.

I coerced the world to learn my name.
