Grand Canal

Swans, adopted the bosom of the Grand Canal.
Mating for life;
Dissolution occurs; from disruption of succession.
Out of place; to the callous.
Polluted by grime –
Bevy caught in the slime.
Plundering; protected by armour of song –
Drowning the unsuspecting.
Culprits about; scouting for poison.
Hustle and bustle confines the herd.
Cygnets, sacrificed by hungry vagrants.
The city, unfriendly, ignore their dignity.
Society manoeuvres the matrix.
But swans remain –
Timeless.
